Being in Croatia had to read something written by a Croatian writer.
Good luck wanted me to find a German translation of one of the more prolific and well-known writers. This book of short stories had received several awards and was translated into many foreign languages. The stories contains always a lot of sex or better promises of it, never really explicit. I think this style is typical for the new slavic literature in general: black, grotesque, losers are often the protagonists, full of life and not sparing the violent side of human nature. The latter aspect most likely is due to the disillusion of the last Balkan wars.
I really enjoyed reading it. It made me laugh out loudly several times.
