I am not sure, but I think this book makes only sense to those, who know Germany and its subculture. For those it is hilariously funny. At least I had to laugh loudly many times. It is the second book in the trilogy about “Herr Lehmann”. As a side note: the 3rd volume was published first, the 1st volume in chronological order, and last the linking 2nd volume. The story can be summarized easily the little brother (Der kleine Bruder) faked a nervous breakdown to avoid the military service, he decides to go to the back then called West Berlin where his elder brother lives. When he arrives there is brother went lost. Nobody wants to tell him about his whereabouts, but it seems everybody knows something. Basically a few days after his arrival in Berlin are described. He will be acquainted with the famous berlin subculture with its many factions and mini-wars about the absolute truth. Soon he finds out what he really knows to do best and what his destiny is: barkeeper. Barkeeper in the midst of so many want-to-be-artists, which are in the meanwhile just barkeepers until their breakthrough comes. This is all funny, truly funny.
